Something we at Icygeek have been toying with for the past 12-13 years is creating a Disney Magic: the Gathering set. Our first version was done in 2004, but due to a bad website, it was not published until 2005. Earlier this year at our friends at Superfriends Universe we did a second version, trying to make it friendlier to newbies and Wizards of the Coast, but it was rushed and the quality showed. Still, this is a labor of love, and so we present our first five cards we would have if we did a Disney: the Gathering set…a cycle of Donald Duck cards. (Hey, we amphibious avians have to stick together.)
So, the release of Commander 2015 has come and gone with a big, rousing “meh”. Is it too soon to speculate what will be the theme of next year’s decks? Not for us penguins at Icygeek, so for Magic Monday we are looking at what is left to do for Commander decks.
After a lackluster year of Magic: the Gathering, it was hoped that the 2015 Commander decks would prove to be interesting. Sadly, it was not to be. WotC has been playing it safe lately, and appears to be in the pocket of retailers who do not want the cards they have to be devalued with new printings. The new Boros deck, Wade Into Battle, is a particular disappointment, with nothing except a Gisela reprint to excite. What should have WotC done instead?
